Terms of service and sale
1. What the service is
Honest Strategy Lab lets members build trading rules, test them on past prices with a fixed method (unseen years, unseen stocks, costs, a comparison with holding and with luck), discuss them in a community room, and run them on paper trading accounts they connect from Alpaca. Paper accounts trade imaginary money: no real money is ever invested through the service.
The service gives no investment advice. It does not recommend any security, rule or trade. Test results describe the past and do not predict the future. See the risk disclosure.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to your email address, which is how you sign in.
3. Free trial and subscription
Every new account gets a free trial of 3 days with every feature, without payment details. When it ends, continuing requires a subscription: €19 a month or €190 a year (TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI), paid in advance by card through Stripe. Nothing is charged at the end of the trial unless you subscribe. The subscription renews automatically for the same period until cancelled; for a yearly subscription we email you a reminder between one and three months before it renews, with how to stop it. You can cancel at any time from Settings; access continues until the end of the period already paid, and no partial refund is made for it, except where the law requires one.
We may change prices for future periods; we will tell you by email at least 30 days before a change applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
4. Right of withdrawal (consumers in the European Union)
As a consumer you have 14 days from the day you subscribe to withdraw from the subscription without giving a reason. A subscription only starts during those 14 days if you expressly ask for it to, which the subscribe button requires; we confirm that request by email. If you then withdraw within the 14 days, you pay only for the days already provided, in proportion to the price, and we refund the rest within 14 days by the means you paid with.
To withdraw, write to us through the contact form, for example with this form: "To CMM invest: I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the Honest Strategy Lab subscription, subscribed on [date], account email [email]. Name, date."
5. Paper trading accounts and the autopilot
To use a portfolio or an autopilot you connect your own Alpaca paper account by pasting its API keys. The service refuses live (real money) keys and only ever sends orders to Alpaca's paper environment. Your relationship with Alpaca is governed by your agreement with Alpaca. The autopilot follows the rule and limits you choose; it can still lose (paper) money, place orders you would not have placed, or fail to act because of outages at Alpaca, at data providers or at our host. You can pause or stop it, and remove your keys, at any time.
6. The community
Messages you post are visible to every member under the name you choose. You keep the rights to what you write and allow us to display it in the service. You must follow the community rules; we may remove messages and suspend accounts that do not.
7. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access other members' data, overload or probe the service, scrape it, resell it, or use it to offer investment services to others.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change features; we will not remove a paid feature during a period you have already paid for without refunding the unused part.
9. Liability
The service is provided to help you study trading rules. Within the limits allowed by law, we are not liable for decisions you make, for gains or losses in any account, or for indirect damage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular for gross negligence or towards consumers under their statutory rights.
10. Ending the contract
You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings, and delete your account there once it is cancelled. We may end or suspend an account that breaks these terms, after notice except in urgent cases, and we tell the member why.
11. Complaints, mediation and law
Write to us through the contact form first. If we cannot settle a dispute within two months, a consumer may refer it free of charge to the consumer mediator: [to be completed: LAB_MEDIATOR]. These terms are governed by French law; a consumer keeps the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where they live.
